Alessia was such a fun and welcoming guide and Salvatore drove safely and at a nice speed. The day was absolutely wonderful, we got sun in Pompei and learn a lot with our guide Antonio! Then we reached the top of the Vesuvio and we got snow! It was really a perfect day ❤️

It’s rather quiet here in winter. Despite theres only me and my mom for the day trip on the day, Nello companied us all along and recommended a great route for us to walk around in our free time. The boat rides were fantastic, really couldn’t think of a better way to learn about the island in a short frame of time!

All was worth it, but due to sea level or other business reasons the Blue Grotto was closed. And souvenir stores closed on the island as well.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Where does the tour start and how does the pick-up in Naples work?
The tour begins in central Naples, using a designated meeting point for efficient boarding in small groups. A comfortable minibus handles the transfer and typically arrives about 10–15 minutes before the scheduled departure to allow smooth check-in. Passengers simply show their booking confirmation to the guide before boarding. Arriving slightly early helps avoid unexpected delays caused by city traffic.
How long does the tour take overall?
The tour generally lasts between 7 and 8 hours, depending on traffic and time spent at Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. The archaeological site visit takes about 2 hours, while the walk to the crater varies with group pace. The schedule is designed to keep transitions smooth and avoid unnecessary delays. It’s best not to plan tightly timed activities right after returning, as minor variations may occur.
Is the tour available in languages other than English?
The tour is conducted exclusively in English, both at the Pompeii archaeological site and during the guided walk on Mount Vesuvius. This ensures small, cohesive groups and clear explanations throughout the experience. All logistical instructions during transfers are also delivered in English. If you have specific needs, please let us know in advance so we can check alternative options.
What is included in the tour price?
The price covers pick-up from central Naples, transportation by minibus, a guided 2-hour visit of Pompeii, entrance tickets to both the archaeological site and Mount Vesuvius, lunch, and a crater walk led by a National Park guide. An escort is provided for the entire duration, along with return transfer. This setup prevents unexpected extra costs. You may want to bring money for personal purchases or additional drinks. Opening hours and prices may change; please check for updates before your visit.
What is not included and may require extra payment?
The tour does not cover personal expenses, drinks not included with lunch, or any additional services not listed under what’s included. Major items such as entrance tickets and guided visits are already part of the package. Carrying some cash can be convenient for small purchases. If you need extra services, please inform us before departure to check availability.
How long is the visit to Pompeii and what does it include?
The guided tour of Pompeii lasts about 2 hours, covering key areas of the ancient city and highlights related to the 79 AD eruption. The guide adapts explanations and pace based on group needs. The exact route may vary depending on site conditions and visitor flow. Comfortable footwear is recommended, as the ground can be uneven.
How demanding is the walk up to the Vesuvius crater?
The walk begins from the parking area at roughly 1,000 meters, following a moderately steep path suitable for visitors with basic fitness. The ascent usually takes 20–30 minutes, depending on group pace. A certified alpine-volcanological guide offers information along the trail. Carrying water and sun protection is advised, especially during warmer months.
Does the tour schedule change between high and low season?
Yes. During low season (November–March), the tour visits Pompeii in the morning and Mount Vesuvius in the afternoon. In high season (April–October), the order is reversed to optimize time and weather conditions. This structure keeps group flow efficient. Always check the schedule on your confirmation, as small adjustments may occur.
What level of physical fitness is required for the tour?
The tour requires adequate mobility, especially for the climb to the Vesuvius crater, which features steep and uneven sections. Pompeii offers a wheelchair-accessible itinerary, but the standard route involves walking over ancient stones and rough surfaces. Visitors with respiratory issues should consider dust exposure and moderate physical effort. If unsure about fitness requirements, consulting a doctor beforehand is recommended.
What footwear and clothing are recommended?
We recommend comfortable footwear with good grip, suitable for both Pompeii’s ancient stones and the Vesuvius trail. Light clothing and a hat work well in summer, while a jacket may be necessary in cooler months. Wind can be strong near the crater. Bring water and sunscreen for outdoor sections.
Is the tour suitable for visitors with reduced mobility?
The tour includes challenging sections on Mount Vesuvius, where the uphill path to the crater is steep and uneven, making it unsuitable for guests with significant mobility limitations. Pompeii, however, offers a wheelchair-accessible itinerary, featuring dedicated routes and smoother areas, though not every part of the site can be accessed. Boarding and exiting the minibus also require adequate mobility. Please contact us in advance so we can assess potential alternatives or accommodations.
What happens if Mount Vesuvius closes due to weather?
If Mount Vesuvius closes because of strong winds or volcanic risk, the itinerary may change and partial refunds may apply depending on circumstances. The National Park has final authority on access. In such cases, the crater walk might be replaced with an alternative activity. It’s advisable to check for updates on the morning of the tour.
What kind of lunch is included?
The included meal typically consists of a simple dish, often pizza, water, and occasionally a light drink, allowing the tour to stay on schedule. Lunch is served at a partner venue along the route between Pompeii and Vesuvius. The menu may vary slightly by season. Please inform us in advance if you have dietary requirements.
What time does the tour return to Naples?
Return to Naples usually occurs 7–8 hours after departure, though the exact time depends on traffic and group pacing during the visits. The minibus drops passengers back at the original meeting point. During high season, delays can occur on the Vesuvius road. Allow extra time when planning evening commitments.
